US Army Hands Over Bagram Prison to Afghanistan

Download After a year of tough negotiations, the US army this week handed over the only prison still under American control to the Afghan government.

The handover ends a chapter in Afghan-US relationship.  The Afghan President says control over the prison is a matter of national sovereignty.

Bagram is infamous for allegations of abuse against prisoners and is often described as “Afghanistan’s Guantanamo Bay”.

Afghanistan Hosts First Women’s Film Festival

Download This year Afghanistan hosted its first Women’s Film Festival.

A total of 45 were submitted - all directed by women from different countries, including female directors from Afghanistan.

The films produced by Afghan female filmmakers demonstrate the strength of Afghan women to the international community.

Afghan Local Displacement Families Faced with Problem

Download About 500,000 Afghans displaced by war are struggling to survive in camps, where they have been living for years.

Amensty International says they are not getting enough attention from the government and international donors.

Each winter there are reports of children dying in the harsh conditions in the camps around the capital Kabul.
